The Gallente Election Event

The Gallente Election Event was an event to enable Corporations to participate in the process of electing a new President of the Gallente Federation. It has not however been concluded to date and lack of progress with the event and lack of information as to why that is, has provoked great criticism of CCP in the eve forums.

On 25th October 2004 CCP announced that applications to participate in the Gallente Election Event were open. Because CCP stated that participation would be limited to the 50 Corps having the best standing towards the Federation, many interested Corps embarked upon a flurry of missioning to raise standings.

The first of an intended series of events actually started in April 2005, it was however open to any Corp. to compete, the idea that only the top 50 Corps being eligible had been abandoned. It was announced that participants could look forward to a “Summer of Fun” with “many election events”.

To compete in this "round" of the events Corporations were required to carry out missions for one of the agents of the 3 Presidential Candidates they wanted to support. There were in all 18 such agents, and each agent would appoint the Corporation accumulating the most mission points for him, as that agents’ chosen Presidential emissary. - thus the initial event would whittle the number of competing Corporations down to 18.

The missions for two of the Presidential candidates consisted of rounds of ferrying items between three specified locations, upon reaching the final location either 1, 5 or 10 vouchers were awarded. A slightly more complicated procedure involving construction of Statues was put in place for the third Candidates’ agents.

These missions continued until 25th May 2005, when CCP announced that stage to have concluded and promised results and rewards for the winners would be published at the end of the week. No further announcements were made and on 21st June 2005 Kieron posted an apology for the delay in the eve forums. On 23rd June 2005 winners were announced, each received a navy megathron, and Kieron announced there was “more to come” in the event.

On 7th August 2005, no further information having been given out, one of the winners asked in the Eve events forum when the next stage would start, a moderator locked the thread saying the event had “run its course”.

24th August 2005 Kieron again apologised for the “lack of resolution” of the event, and on 21st September Kieron again posted to say the event was not forgotten and it would be finished.

On 21st May 2006 enquiries as to resolution of the event were still being posted in the eve forums, an ISD member posted that there was a plan to finish the event and that the wait would be worth it.
