The Knights of the Southern Cross was a 0.0 Alliance founded in Omist. They later relocated to Wicked Creek and Insmother, then finally moved to owning parts of Tenerifis. They are, in-part, responsible for Lokta Voltera's demise and directly connected to the chain of events that led to the Great War. The Alliance is currently disbanded

Political History

KOS were given 3 stations in Wicked Creek by Lotka Voltera. They were incorporated into the "Coalition of the South" (no relation to the "Southern Coalition") and fought against Red Alliance for many months.

KOS was at the front of the Coalition vs. RA war. KOS members were unable to manage their home economy due to carriers assigning fighters from POS' in their home systems 23/7 and due to hostiles buying and reselling ships and supplies at 500%+ markups.

Soon after this, RA pushed into KOS' Wicked Creek base and started reinforcing towers. During one of the POS sieges, LV attacked the RA dreadnaught fleet, killing 13 (according to a container anchored in front of F-EM4Q Station) RA dreadnaughts. At the time this was more rare than a titan kill would be today. Eventually RA was pushed back from Wicked Creek, Insmother and Cache and only one minor station remained in their hands (C-J6MT).

When Chimera Pact, Maelstrom Alliance and E.R.A were unable to hold their ground against [[Red Alliance] in Insmother and Cache, it became apparent that the "Coalition of the South" was unable to hold back the Insmother incursion. While Lotka Voltera refused to defend F2A-GX with dreadnoughts, but instead used conventional forces for skirmishes KOS and -V- forces flew numerous missions to evacuate LV Assets from said station in have escorted escorts into 1V-. Shortly afterwards F2A-GX Station fell to RA Forces.

KOS Alliance at that time did focus their efforts on N7-BIY where half of the KOS Membership was based out of. Having cut off supply routes, KOS managed to relocate 20 Deathstars into the N7-BIY Station from Wicked Creek via Carrier Bridges. 7 of those 20 Towers where lend to KOS by LV to aid, since LV concentrated now on the upcoming Goonswarm that announced siding with Red alliance to crush the "Coalition of the South". LV focussed their Effort together with -V- to Empire Chokepoints, to prevent Goonswarm convoys of reaching C-J6MT Station in Insomther, but where not very successfully in doing so, as Red Alliances and Goonswarm forces engaged the KOS Defense Forces in the System of N7-BIY. KOS Forces had been on standby in N7-BIY since 48 hours nonstop engaging Red Alliance Forces determined to gain a foothold in N7-BIY. When the RA/Goon Forces overan KOS Forces, outgunning em 6:1, KOS High Command gave notice to the "Coalition of the South" Command that Red Alliance possed up N7-BIY System and Capital Ships (mainly Dreadnoughts) where needed, the request was denied, stating that Insmother was a lost cause and LV/-V- had top focus on holding the choke points, to safe their space, especially NRAEL.

As RA/Goon Forces left the system waiting for the sovereignty to shift, KOS Command gave the order to abandon N7-BIY-Station and consolidate in Wicked Creek. During the next 48 Hours KOS Capital Pilots opened a Nonstop Carrier Bridge, and 3 KOS Freighters ran twice from Empire up to N7-BIY, loaded with Carrier-Jumpfuel, on their way back taking what ever possible to Wicked Creek, just to return to Empire and pick up a new Jumpfuel-Load, while beeing heavily protected by a KOIS Taskforce of Hacs and BS, a rare thing for KOS. Eventually KOS evacuated 70% of all Assets stuck in N7-BIY leaving back almost roughly 30 Deatshstars in the Station. These "lost" Towers would later become a thick thron in LV's sight, since 7 where loned by em to KOS.

Most KOS Memberbase felt heavy betryed by "Coalition of the South" Command, even tho KOS Command defended the step taken as a necessary evil to win the war after all. KOS lost 50% of its Memberbase, as what some described as "Dead Weight", but in reallity lost 30% of its PVP and Industrial Players.

For 60 Days KOS held the Line at the System of OEG- in Insmother, beeing more or less effectively shelling RA/Goon Forces, when LV decided to place a Refinery Station into the System of 3-LJW3 without giving allied KOS Forces a advanced warning. When the launched Egg, was engaged by RED/Goon KOS-Taskforces came down the 7 Jumps from QGQ to help, but where unable to aid LV saving that Outpost Egg, as RA/Goon forces had the upper hand, and the Outpost Egg was lost. (Later (6 weeks) TCF build a refinery there)

This was rumored to have affected KOS/LV Relationship heavily, and when RA invaded Q-GQHN a couple days later LV refused to Help KOS defend their Homesystem and ordered -V- Forces to stay out and instead help fortify LV/V Positions in Detroid and Scalding Pass. In only four hours, Red Alliance, accompanied by Goonswarm, Tau Ceti Federation, and a number of mercenaries, invaded Q-GQHN, locked the system down with a major force of capitals and support, destroyed three offline small towers (that apparently didn't have the fuel that they were supposed to have in them), and anchored nine deathstars, taking control of nine of the system's fifteen moons. Five of the other six moons had KOS deathstars, and the sixth had a KOS small industrial POS; none of the remaining six KOS POSs were attacked in Q-GQHN during this invasion as the RSF group had control of more than enough moons to take sovereignity. Red Alliance also possed up F-EM4Q, 4-EFLU in the same instance, effectively putting all 3 remaining KOS-Stations under siege.

Shocked by the Capital might of Red-Alliance, that fielded in what was rumored to be 20 Dreadnoughts, 10 Carriers, 2 Motherships (that KOS Pilots had never seen from upclose, but only from Stories), and 3 Freighters, and LV's decision to order allied Forces out of teh Battle, leaving KOS completely exposed, an emergency Senate Meeting of the KOS-Senate was ordered into session. After 2 hours of Deliberation, it was decided that Demogod, Alliance President at that time, was to negotiate a Cease Fire with Red Alliance and Napped standings, lasting 7 Days, to give KOS the Chance to Evacuate all Assets from Wicked Creek and rethreat to Empire. But before the successfull negotiations with Red Alliance, could have been reported back to the KOS-Senate, Rhang, Defence Minister of KOS, CEO of the Pelenor Swarm, and later rumored to be a LV Plant to keep KOS in Line, misinformed LV-Command, stating that KOS did Nap RED Alliance in order to help engage LV.

So LV declared War on KOS and ordered -V- to do the same. Utterly shocked KOS-Highcommand was, unable to do anything to prevent thise farce, forced to standby and watch while Red Alliance ganked KOS Pilots in Q-GQHN while undocking, before the nap standings where in effect, and those succesfully getting out of teh System beeing slaughtered by LV/-V- in 1L- (neighboring system leading to empire). After KOS Highcommand had a quick explanatory session with LV-Command, ending in them supposedly revealing Rhang as their plant, denouncing KOS as traitors to the cause, and ending the Session with "The KEY", KOS ordered a second Emergency Meeting excluding the Pelenor Swarm and 4 other Corporations that had already 24 hours before the invasion evacuated to LV/-V- Space and later joined em.

While LV/-V- forces would underline each kill of a KOS-Pilot or his ship by a collective "The KEY" in Local Chat, Demogod was contacted by RA-Command personel to inform him that Red Alliance had decided to set KOS to +5 Standings and granting em passage through RED-Alliance Space to get their stuff out of Wicked Creek, through C-J6MT into Empire. KOS accepted the Terms (selling all KOS POS-Equipment and Fuel to RA at a empire price). Later on chain of Events wether or not KOS did nap ra before or after LV/-V- put in the wardec and Rhangs role in the conflict where blurred by a fog of propaganda.

During the next 7 days KOS evacuated through RA Space, not to empire, but to Smash/Roadkill space in geminate, that had become heavily under attack in their homesystems and plans where drawn to take LS-JEP in Vale of the Silent to engage CDC/Pure and with Smash/Roadkill support and Red Alliance Capitals fully remove em from Vale of the Silent. KOS Membership feared D2 and Morsus Mihi Intervention, but where promised by RA that it simply would not happen. So KOS possed in a swift strike LS-JEP up, by moving to full freighters into the system and then pulling in equipment via a carrier Bridge. 36 Hours after KOS had the System to 99% in its hand and Enemy Towers in the System started falling, Morsus Mihi and D2 Capitals showed up in system, supported by CDC/Pure/Astral Wolfes Capitals and regular Forces. KOS, told by RA that they where sorry this happened, pulled down the toweres as swiftly as possible by loosing only 8 of the put up 27 Towers and moved back to Smash Space. They then got offered by TCF that they could live in their Space as Allies to rebuild for the "Big Push" and get ready to trake their own space, promised to be LV's Detorid, as a Payback for LV Stabbing KOS in the Back when they where already down and on the ground (or so it was posted on the CAOD-Boards). KOS did not have to pay any rents, while other alliance , like sundering where seen as Residents and taxed. roughly 30 days later, while RA had effectively broken -V- together with Goonswarm, Combined Forces invaded Detorid at the Insmother/Detorid/Tenrifis crossroads, suposedly the heart of LV's homespace.

When saw how juicy the area promised to KOS as new space was, it was decided by the "Red Swarm Federation", that the space would go to goonswarm instead and KOS was to open a second front with IAC in Tenerifis, so KOS went out and took with IAC Help (that lost a motehrship by Thyraxx during the battle to LV/Bob Capitals) C3- Station. When LV and its new Allie Bob where pushed to Omist and the LV Baby Titan was destroyed in Tenerifis, KOS took the remaining 3 stations from LV/ISS, using the towers that where previously stuck in N7-BIY, including the 7 loaned ones from LV and since then shared Tenerifis with Goonswarm.

Eventually when RAgoon evicted ISS from tenerifis, KOS was allowed to take sov of 3 stations in the region. KOS has remained in the Tenerifis region as a member of the Southern Coalition functioning as an alliance until recently. Early January '08 KOS Highcommand resigned collectively, due to RL issues and animosity about accepting a person called Xirtam into the position of KOS Defence Minister, leaving KOS Forces without their Top 10 Leadership personal. During that Leadership vacuum in mid January 2008, Against All Authorities , or -A-/AAA for short, launched a massive attack against the KOS station in c3. 17 of the 40 pos in the system were put into reinforced by the end of the day. The attack was thought to be spurred by animosity between the two alliances which started way back between both alliance Leaders Evil Thug (AAA) and Demogod (KOS), who since left the alliance.

Later that month, the self apponted KOS Interims Leadership relinquished 2 stations in Paragon Soul to Black Out alliance supposed to consolidated their territory in Tenerifis. Shortly afterwards AAA took KW-OAM, that was mostly deserted, as most Senior KOS-Corps and -Logistical Powerhouses left KOS. Shortly afterwards Venom Alliance was offered Dz6-Station and NZW-Station, especially giving away the last of KOS's space. Shortly after on February 15th KOS officially disbanded.

A two year long era had ended, but most KOS veterans found new homes in Pandemic Legion, Red Alliance, Goonswarm, Tau Ceti Federation, Venom Alliance, Blackout and various other Alliances and Corps. All have in common that they are still fighting against those that betrayed them in the Past, and those that sided with them.

Vips

Demogod, the alliance leader, supposedly has quit the game.
Shadoo, Defense Minister and beloved veteran from the N7-BIY and OEG Battles, left KOS after the Insmother debacle. He founded his own corporation, North Eastern Swat, which joined forces with Pandemic Legion and continues to fight Lotka Voltera and Band of Brothers today.
Rhang and his corporation joined LV and continued to fight KOS even after LV fell under RISE. They are currently without an alliance.
Shnooker, Defense Minster through the Tenerifis times, resigned as third in command in January 2008 and joined R-I-P Alliance.
Godby, acting alliance leader and real life brother of Demogod, resigned as second in command in January 2008 and founded R-I-IP Alliance.
Ecid Q'Wulf resigned shortly after Godby and Shnooker as fourth in command, but stayed in the alliance. In January 2008, helping many KOS members at that time to overcome the leadership vacuum, saving Assets, grace and their Members, became a member of Blue Labs and is now fighting against Band of Brothers in Black Star Alliance.
Peri Stark, Vice President since the Tenerifis days, stayed in KOS until the bitter end. His Corporation, Blue Labs, lost C3-OYD Station and later joined Black Star Alliance.
Tumbles, beloved fleet commander, left Blue Labs after the loss of C3- and joined Shadoo in fighting Band of Brothers.
Firkragg, probably the most experienced fleet commander of the Tenerifis Days, left Blue Labs to start a true pirate life. It is rumored that he now kills pod pilots mercilessly in low security space.
She Storm left The Taining Corp, executor corporation of KOS, after announcing that KOS had disbanded. He later joined Blue Labsand continues tanking enemies in his pod today.
The Taining Corp closed KOS and went their own separate way. They are rumored to be secretly rebuilding and planning to take Delve with Demogod and his secret (banned) Titan-pilot when the dust of the final battles have settled.
Grey Council Corporation took NZW- Station after Godby left, but shortly after left KOS. It is unknown what these pilots are doing right now. Lotka Voltera lays in dust and is no more. Their members are scattered all over the universe and share no common goal anymore.
Veritas Immortalis was crushed quite early after helping LV betray KOS and has now been reduced to a dormant cluster of minor corporations.
XirtamVOTF, self-appointed leader, failed and was shortly abandoned by his closest followers. He is supposed to have left the game. His followers joined Band of Brothers and are fighting against those that were previously their brethren.

There are many pod pilots that would deserve being mentioned, but this article is already far too long. One thing is to be said, though: "Many pilots have learned 0.0 life in Knights of the Southern Cross and continue to play and thrive in almost all major alliances today. It was a wild ride, but unfortunately now it's over."
