Geminate
From EVE History
Geminate is a region immediately east of the Caldari empire in 0.0 space. It is adjacent to The Forge (Caldari / West), Metropolis (Minmatar / South), and Vale of the Silent (0.0 / North). To the east of Geminate are the drone infected regions.
Geminate is a good region, but not considered to be vastly rich in resources.
General History
The following history is not perfectly accurate since so much time has passed without an accurate written record being kept by one source. The following is a combination of facts and memories of a number of pilots involved in the events that took place. Some pilots remember history one way, while other pilots another.
The First Era (mid-2003 - mid/late-2005)
2003 saw the first alliances in Eve created in Stain, Venal, Fountain and other NPC regions. Along with these Geminate supplied NPC stations for player use in 0.0 in an otherwise completely remote area of the Eve Universe. Unlike some of the other regions, however, Geminate was inhabited by pirate groups such as M3G4.
The pirate groups that inhabited Geminate were in several wars with their neighbours in Venal (Venal Alliance during 2003), M3G4 suffered an internal coup and the ringleaders created Biomass Cartel. Biomass and several other corps (Space Invaders, Terra Nova to name a couple) formed a loosely coordinated alliance called the Forsaken Empire - Their dominion extended from Geminate to Tribute. After their invasion (and abandoning after victory) of Fountain they formed a mega-corp with 5 pillars (from the 5 founders, Huff Technologies, Valkyrie Enterprises, Biomass Cartel, EPA, and Omnigen) who continued to hold all 3 of these regions and continued their wars on the VA/NVA until its collapse and reformation into the Phoenix Alliance (PA).
In May of 2004, the Forsaken Empire faced a dwindling member base, as many of their premier combat pilots disappeared to Lineage II. In an effort to hide their vulnerability, the Forsaken Empire joined the Curse Alliance as a protectorate, extending CA dominion over Vale of the Silent, Tribute and Geminate. However, this was insufficient to dissuade invaders, and under the combined pressure of several large corps, most notably Reikoku, Celestial Apocalypse, and Everlasting Vendetta, the remains of the old Empire were forced to retreat to the NPC stations in FDZ4-A.
Under the leadership of Everlasting Vendetta, a new alliance was formed to safeguard Vale of the Silent and Geminate against pirate incursions - UNICOR. Taking control of the Vale of the Silent stations, their involvement in Geminate was limited to mineral and NPC exploitation. However, the handful of Forsaken Empire pilots who remained in FDZ4-A were regrouping. Flying under the new banner of The Pirate Syndicate (TPS), they began a campaign to retake Geminate and Vale of the Silent. From June to August of 2004, TPS and UNICOR vigorously contested the Geminate region. However, dwindling member support for the war took its toll on UNICOR. A truce was negotiated, and the UNICOR corps evacuated Geminate and Vale, returning to lawful space, and leaving The Pirate Syndicate in undisputed control of both Vale of the Silent and Geminate.
Following the departure of UNICOR, the Vale of the Silent and Geminate were held by The Pirate Syndicate, while Tribute was controlled by Ganksta Nation, led by The Fenix Alliance. Efforts by TPS to unify the old Forsaken Empire zone of control led to a merger between Ganksta Nation and TPS. However, the seasoned pilots of TPS had difficulty integrating the often-inexperienced GN pilots and the chaotic leadership of TFA. Less then a month after the merger, TPS and GN were at war.
The TPS/GN civil war was considerably shorter then the UNICOR war which preceded it. While both sides were evenly matched in numbers, the experience of TPS pilots and leadership was insurmountable. After several heavy losses, including brutal defeats in fleet battles at the hands of Celestial Apocalypse, GN disintegrated. Founded out of this conflict was BURN EDEN, taking the best of the TFA pilots to form a small, effective pirate corp.
TPS remained in control of Geminate for around five months before a reborn Forsaken Empire corporation emerged in the area during late 2004. At first the 2 were on friendly terms as several FE were ex-TPS leaders, but (apparently) TPS did not pay their promised 'protection money' to FE and after a dispute between Dianabolic of TPS and several FE leaders. TPS made FE KOS (kill-on-sight). Within 24 hours however FE had taken Geminate and Vale and most of TPS had sided with them. Total domination of the area was achieved within a week.
Forsaken Empire continued to have control over Vale of the Silent and Geminate's stations until late 2005 (around 10 months) even through war with the entire north and several southern alliances (during FE's membership of Force of Evil) - Geminate being saved due to both skilled FE diplomats and the Region's relative remoteness and lack of importance during this time.
After FoE's collapse Forsaken Empire continued to control Vale of the Silent and Geminate - The latter was relatively unimportant until the new gates to 0.0 were installed, at which point FE leadership ordered a move back into the heart of Geminate in order to keep control of the region from the inevitable incursions by upcoming groups. During this time Geminate was completely locked down by FE and its ally, S.A.S. Attempted invasions by SMASH and incursions by the then-inexperienced INFOD were put down immediately.
Unfortunately, however, the new Forsaken Empire alliance that was formed with the intention of having only a few select corps within it (GODS and CDI who controlled Tribute, FE, SSDC and SAS only possibly) did not last a week in its original purpose as the Forsaken Empire corporation disbanded once again a week after the official alliance was created, its name left to the leadership of GODS and CDI.
Almost immediately after its disbandment numerous groups began to move into Geminate in order to exploit the power vacuum, however the new Forsaken Empire alliance managed to hang on to geminate for the entire length of its existence.
Forsaken Empire Alliance (mid/late-2005 - Spring 2006)
Once those who claimed Geminate left the area in mid 2005, there were not many left in the region outside of a few locals. The Forsaken Empire Alliance who controlled Vale of the Silent moved to reclaim Geminate as its own. They gained ownership of the region without a focused invasion or a shot fired.
Several months after taking control of the region, a pilot from Red Alliance formed a new entity, Stella Nova United and moved to southern Geminate. FE allowed them to live there as residents as long as they did not try to take control of the area.
Forsaken Empire Alliance's influence in the region lasted into the first part of 2006. Forsaken Empire Alliance disbanded shortly after Big Blue entered IPS. Geminate was no longer under its control.
A Splintered Region (February 2006 - March 2007)
With the disbanding of the Forsaken Empire Alliance, Geminate was free for the taking. A power struggle would begin and dominate the region for over a year. The entire region was not under the control of one group since Forsaken Empire alliance had disbanded in early 2006 until Geminate#Smashkill took over.
Several relatively small alliances formed from the remnants of older, disbanded ones attempted to gain their little corner of the region, to name a few: Stella Nova United, Euphoria Unleashed, Cruel Intentions, Big Blue, SMASH, RoadKill, RATEL alliance and CDC.
Most of the combat was focused in central Geminate, and a lot in the IPS Constellation. Big Blue left the area after Cruel Intentions, EU, and remnants of Forsaken Empire (the corp, not the alliance)continualy conducted raids in the IPS constellation, prior to, and post Mercenary Coalition war.
Ratel's outpost in a neighbouring constellation was under siege by SMASH for several weeks (FE corp remnants helped to defend the outpost, leading to stalemate until FE corp pulled out, at which point the outpost fell and RATEL were evicted from the region).
Euphoria Unleashed, a corp of just over 100 pilots gained control of BWF and held it and the surrounding areas for 5months before FE corp remnants and SMASHKILL and there allies wrested control of the immediate vicinity of BWF for around a month before giving up control of the outpost to Storm Armada; who also gave up posession of the outpost.
Roadkill and SMASH became the strongest groups in Geminate after withstanding several weeks of siege at the hands of almost the entire north. They maintained near-constant control of their outposts in the region throughout the war until the north went home and EU pulled out of the region completely.
Alliance and Corporations History in Geminate
Arrow Project
(Information needed)
Big Blue
During the fall of 2005, the remnants of Force of Evil and Cruel Intentions carried on pillaging, murder, and pirating in BWF-ZZ and its surrounding systems. December 2005 saw the coming of Big Blue, which launched their 0.0 expirement and took over the IPS-QB constellation. They built the BWF-ZZ and 8MG-J6 outposts during their time there. Due to external and internal pressure, Big Blue collapsed and left the area in August 2006.
The 0.0 experiment launched there started off as an innocent way to open 0.0 to the masses. The beginning and "golden age" of the project saw dozens of newbie miners filling the belts and filling their holds with crokite. This also spawned the remark "lockdown!", screamed by TBB "police" which was trying to keep the miners clear of pirates, which was featured in one of thekiller8's RMR flash movie.
Later this prospect of defenseless miners was to much of a temptation for even more pirates, and other corps who started to frequent the constellation and in the last months of TBB the activity level in the constellation turned to almost zero as especially SAS, Euphoria Unleashed, and Exotic Dancers turned any mining into suicide.
The final blow to TBB came when NAGA, the economic force behind the project, tried to start super-capital production. NAGA wanted to supply super-capitals to anyone who wanted them, much as what they had with their Nagamazon shop. This proved to much of an issue for some large alliances, and Mercenary Coalition [MC] was hired to take out the capital ship yard. After the MC campaign there was basically no drive left in the Big Blue, and they disbanded.
Black Flag Alliance
Black Flag moved into Geminate two months prior to RATEL building the TDE4-H outpost. Their purpose was to assist RATEL is building and defending their outpost. This was a joint venture. After it was built and Smash started assaulting the area, Black Flag corporations lost their outpost docking rights due to disagreement with Ratel leadership concerning Ratel's defensive stance...or lack of.
During this same time, the leader of Black Flag Alliance and CEO of VLINC was in the process of dealing with other issues outside of Black Flag and took a leave of absense from leadership. Due to their disagreements with Ratel's lack of defensive stance and other issues Black Flag's leadership decided it best to just pull out and let Ratel do as they please.
While not having significant assets in the outpost, Black Flag resided mostly in POS's making isk between roaming gangs prior to the Smash invasion.
The Confederation
The former President of this alliance, Big Russ, used to be a member of Ratel Alliance. This can be reason to state that The Confederation was an offshoot of Ratel Alliance. This alliance once resided in west Geminate from late 2005 up until late November of 2006. It lived during a time of a major power vacuum within Geminate. It should be noted that the founders of PURE were offshoot from The Confederation. The divide that occured here in the early years of The Confederation can be attributed to the affinity of heavy bureaucracy and abstainance of piracy, principles which The Confederation were founded on. There was controversy about the now PURE founding corporation when they entered The Confederation. This involved breaking the rules of The Confederation which ultimately led them to make their own way.
The Confederation had both the Human capital and resources to provide sway to a different present day state of Geminate, but the bureaucratic bickering that the President and others could not tolerate led to the ultimate downfall and thus uselessness of this Alliance.
Directly before the demise of The Confederation, a large number of those in The Senators of the Confederation disbanded and rejoined in another corporation to join Ratel Alliance.
The Confederation as an entity witnessed the rise of Smashkill as a dual powerhouse alliance.
(Information needed on how the The Confederation was pushed out following the departure of The Senators of the Confederation in late 2006)
Cruel Intentions
With help from Forsaken Empire (the corp), Cruel Intentions won control of the IPS constellation from Storm Armada in February 2007. They decided to sell IPS to the Interstellar Starbase Syndicate a short time later.
The deal was that Cruel Intentions sold IPS and the two outposts to ISS, including friendly standings to Smashkill. The positive standings with Smashkill did not work out, and the sale was cancelled. CI never received any payment, and Smashkill allowed ISS to leave IPS unmolested.
This alliance no longer resides in Geminate.
Euphoria Unleashed
This alliance took over the IPS constellation with the help of Forsaken Empire (the corp) and Cruel Intentions after Big Blue left in August 2006. They were allied with the vast majority of the alliances in Geminate and Vale when Dusk and Dawn (D2) united most of the northern alliances into the Northern Coalition. (EU were allied with D2 and their allies too, effectively bringing them into the Northern Coalition)
They left Geminate in December 2006/January 2007 during the BOB-ASCN war, most likely on contract (although they were under significant pressure in IPS constellation from FE remnants and in a losing war against SMASH and Roadkill, despite having almost the entire north aid them for several weeks). This left ESA in control of the IPS constellation. They allied themselves with the Northern Coalition and attempted to hold IPS.
Force of Evil
Force of Evil was created out of Forsaken Empire (the originals corporation) rebirth and Curse Alliance's death.
Curse Alliance had split into 2 camps, The Xirtam loyalists and the Foyle loyalists - Forsaken Empire invited the latter group to come and inhabit the region with them and form a new alliance; this alliance was named Force of Evil. The alliance was relatively short lived but very active. (existed from early 05 to early in the 2nd Q of 06)
The alliance thrived on pvp, made up of many respected pvp corporations (FE itself, Corp 1 and QUAM to name a few). It held its own against IRON in Deklein (to the point of owning the region in all but official claims and station ownership) as well as coordinating with G against BOB in Tenal and Venal (BOB moved out of the north shortly after the formation of FoE, claiming no 'good fights' were to be had, despite 2 pvp-focused alliances on either side of them conveniently).
FoE went on to defend itself against a Mercenary Coalition attack (later found to be employed by Xetic Alliance). After the MC contract FoE declared war upon Xetic, slaughtering them in empire and making numerous incursions into Xetic 0.0, despite its location far away from its own.
Stain Empire too had a corporation base out of Geminate to attack FoE. Even the mighty G alliance, once friends, attacked the new force in the north (FOE) and on the first night were brutally repelled by a huge FoE fleet in d7- (Tribute). After this PA got in on the war and before long FoE was fighting all of the north and several other small factions and numerous mercenaries.
Eventually the weight of numbers and war weariness began to show, and FoE wasutterly blobbed out of Tribute despite it's best efforts. Internal strife caused a split and FE and several of its allies left the alliance leaving a shell of a once great alliance to wither and die slowly in the coming months. (Despite only losing Tribute, the war was over)
This alliance disbanded and no longer resides in Geminate.
Gemini Federation
The alliance, Gemini Federation, resided in the east of Geminate after Stella Nova United disbanded, being the founded by Foundation and Copia WarRages Armaments. The alliance combined several english speaking corporations from Red Alliance, which was then under heavy siege by Lotka Voltera and its allies; several corporations from the collapsed stella nova united; and residents of the Big Blue. Originally, it was planned to invade V.O.I.D in eastern Vale with Cruel Intentions and another new alliance, Ratel; however D2 placed C.D.C. in vale and cruel intentions reset both Ratel and the Gemini Federation. After destroying an offline Red Horizon POS in 04-lqm, ratel and several of its allies reset the Gemini Federation. Further adding to the troubles, many of the ex-Red Alliance corporations were focused on continuing the eastern war, and most alliance pvp activity occurred in Great Wildlands, Insmother and Cache.
Over time, the differences in objectives between the leadership and membership doomed the alliance as Ratel and Black Flag became the dominant alliances in south eastern Geminate. The Red Alliance corporations either left or collapsed, and the remaining ex-Stella Nova United corporations were fractured, with C.D.C. attempting to make them renters in the v1g- constellation of geminate, Ratel being hostile and entrenched in TDE4-h, and Cruel Intentions and Euphoria Released becoming active in the area. After several weeks being near death, the leadership decided to close the alliance and auction the name.
Stella Nova United
About 2-3 month after the Forsaken Empire Alliance took control of Geminate, UAxDeath (of RA at the time) said he wanted a new alliance called SNU to hold southern Geminate. FE made a compromise. SNU were allowed to live in southern Geminate, but only as residents.
Before FE disbanded, SNU and FE had some political differences. SNU began to claim they owned the area. When FE confronted them on the issue they retracted their assertions. This led to FE allowing BioMass Cartel among others to attack SNU. SNU then accused FE of contracting BioMass Cartel to attack them. FE at the time was involved in a war against ATUK in Tribute and had no time/resources/interest in the B-MC vs SNU conflict.
BioMass Cartel, Cruel Intentions, and S.A.S. promptly attacked SNU. Soon after SNU was defeated and disbanded just before Big Blue left the area.

Ratel
At the end of July 2006, Ratel, a small independent alliance, built a Minmatar refining outpost in TDE-4H. A few days after the building of the outpost -- which had been named the ROC, short for Ratel Operations Center -- SMASH alliance started their siege of TDE-4H. In the beginning of August 2006, r0adkill alliance joined SMASH to help in their siege.
The war lasted 2 months. During that time SMASH and r0adkill mounted several attempts to destroy Ratel starbases (Player Owned Stations or POS) without any result. Sometimes the node just crashed and sometimes SMASH lost dreadnought class ships and retreated. Forsaken Empire aided RATEL in its defense of the constellation for at least a month during this siege, forcing SMASH and r0adkill to several defeats, despite major server issues.
SMASH realized that the only way to take the outpost was to deploy more towers in TDE-4H than Ratel. Due to buggy game mechanics, Ratel never received the automated mails informing the attacked alliance of attackers anchoring POS in the sieged system. During every attempt by Ratel to kill the SMASH POS, the node crashed. (During the attack before one crash, SMASH and r0adkill lost 3 dreads, and during the second attack they lost over 50 support ships in 10 minutes.)
On the 5th of October 2006 SMASH gained control over the outpost.
While several groups came to TDE4-H to help Ratel withstand the combined assault from SMASH and r0adkill, a number of pilots in Ratel feel that only Forsaken Empire mounted a significant in this regard, and that other groups that came to assist were not fully committed to the cause.
R0ADKILL
R0ADKILL (yes with a zero), was created by several member corps from the former Stain- Alliance.
Executor corp: "The Corp with no name." Starting out with the remnants of Stain corporations, Interstellar eXodus [IE-EX], Pegasus Mining and Securities [PMAS], Priory of the Lemon [PRIO], Trade and Research Technologies [TAART], and at one point The Raven Warriors (however they have since left for new pastures). Other early members included KrayZ Dams inc.; ex-Stella Nova United and Gemini Federation corporations Foundation, VSP Corp., and Infinitus Morti; and The Older Gamers.
R0ADKILL was formed and quickly established themselves in the Geminate Region.
This alliance built the stations in K25-XD and P-E9GN. IPS constellation was taken over by R0ADKILL and Smash in March 2007 when Cruel Intentions attempted to sell it to ISS and left the area.
Drone Space Expand
Opus Alliance (87- Region)
They invaded some a junior drone space alliance called OPUS, they cleaned the area where OPUS was operating, for Their Allies SMASH, then SMASH took over the area.
The Imperial Order (S-I region)
They launched heavy assault on The Imperial Order alliance (Drone space), with their allies SMASH and Atlas , first 2 days, MJ- System (IO Prime) were almost under R0ADKILL control, then they got reseted by A large coalition of Drone space alliances (MAD-PACT), IRON, Rule of Three, Invictus, DMC, Oxide, Project Entropy, Ethreal Dawn, and Interpid Crossing versus R0ADKILL, Smash, and Atlas.
MJ- was a grave yard for both sides for over a week with SMASHKILL fighting outnumbered 3:1 ratio at times, after the standings resets, SMASHKILL lost a major battle with their original cap fleet devestated on the TDP gate by the MAD-PACT push, but they showed up a brave fleet fights, and skirmish fights, also with their US Prime Time Zone, they were hammering MAD PACT's US fleets, left and right, they figured out how to fight large numbers, since their first war in Geminate in K25-XD their Home system, when D2 and another 5 Northern alliances, came trying to push them out.
MADPACT pilots were getting slaughered and going down in large amounts, according to R0ADKILL Killboard, and the opposite side killboards, When RK got really overruned and outnumbered 4:1 Ratio in MJ-, SMASH were thinking to withdraw, but RK Leadership decided to fight at all cost, they had an operation called " Vitality boosting op " was called by one of their extreme Fleet commanders God's Army, he reported a nice sized fleet ready to take control of MJ-, then RK and Smash Fleet command coordinated a new tactic, and moved the engagement from MJ- System, to Invictus, Home station systems, sieging their Control Towers, and showing a direct threat. MAD PACT military leadership decided to break the Stone wall in MJ-, and move the military operation to Invictus systems where R0ADKILL/Co. fleets are doing some serious damage to Invictus, During the MAD-PACT fleet movement, R0ADKILL discovered their desicion, and coordinated with SMASH, Both alliances moved a entire fleet in the route inbetween MJ- and y-7, and setup an Ambush trap, was well planned by Mars Volta (Smash Fleet commander) and God's Army (R0ADKILL Fleet commander), the battle raged, 1 hour fighting, result MAD-PACT fleet got wipped, then ROADKILL/CO procced to MJ-, their fleet jumped in to encounter the rest of MAD-PACT fleet in MJ-, another 40mins fight at TDP gate in MJ- System, result R0ADKILL/CO held the battlezone and slaugheted second MAD-PACT fleet.
Day 7, R0ADKILL had the system under control during US Prime Time zone, and turned it to wasteland during Europe Time zone vs MAD-PACT pilots, Gureilla Tactics were used, Carriers deployed, Sniping Groups were moved and assigned to pick up the targets. Result, heavey losses for MAD-PACT pilots during day 7 and day 8.
Day 9, MAD-PACT was sneaking their pilots into MJ-. 2 - 3 medium fleet battles in the system, then MAD PACT took control of MJ-, R0ADKILL/CO had 90 pilots in the system, Local count almost 380 pilots, MAD-PACT fleet leadership decided to Siege R0ADKILL towers in MJ-. they were getting Resistnace at the Control tower grid by R0ADKILL gurellia team, and Smash/Atlas Sniping Groups. their siege lasted for 1 hour, till they managed to put R0ADKILL tower in reinforce mode, during the siege, R0ADKILL brought extra 60 pilots from their checkpoint in Smash System, they came to MJ- to assist the main forces, lots of fleet battles between both sides, no one managed to take control of the system untill US Prime Time Zone come. R0ADKILL/Co as usual took over the system traffic, and start sieging The Imperial Order towers.
Day 10, This day was the hardest day for R0ADKILL/Co and MAD-PACT alliances. during Europe Time Zone, R0ADKILL/Co were controlling the system, all the time, without any resistance or show up by MAD-PACT pilots... Then they discovered 200 man fleet coming from TDP side, and 60 IRON/Invictus coming from another side Z-D, and almost 55 Members logged in the system mixed between Frege Alliance, Interpid Crossing, and 35 members of The imperial order were docked at the station waiting the command.
R0ADKILL/CO quickly prepared for the fight, and deployed 125 man fleet at TDP gate, to encounter the 200 opposite side. MAD-PACT military leadership gave the order to jump. Local rised to 535 pilots, heavy fleet battle raged at TDP gate in the system 2 hours fighting, The Node didn't hold, CCP sent a GM to check out the situation, then they restarted the Node twice after the first node crash. Of course everyone logged back, but R0ADKILL/CO couldn't do anything due to the numbers difference, just set at the POS waiting the party time, But MAD-PACT leadership didn't take any advantage and attacked R0ADKILL Towers, they prefered to defend The imperial Order towers, and repair the cyno jammer. Their pilots got bored, they start losing active pilots, while R0ADKILL are gaining more members to join the operation (US prime zone approching). Then in the middle of the night, R0ADKILL/Co ambushed MAD-PACT fleet in MJ-, result heavy losses on both sides, but R0ADKILL were holding the battle zone in the end.
Day 11, MAD-PACT start sending some reinforcement to regain control of the system, all attempts failed to reach the objectives, R0ADKILL/CO had their max amount of manpower in the system hammering MAD-PACT members left and right. All the day non stop.
MAD-PACT alliances, morale went down quickly, Invictus, Rule of Three, Surrendered and pulled out, Oxide followed, then DMC, Then IRON. Frege left alone in MJ-, facing the R0ADKILL Powerhouse alone, Frege got overruned first 2 hours of the fights, then they gave up. Next day after Down Time, Station got captured by R0ADKILL Alliance.
- NOTE: An eve record was set for the most number of ships destroyed in one system within a 24 hour period. That number stands at an estimated 650 ships.
SMASH
SMASH entered Geminate in late July 2006. Leaving their comfortable seat on Prime Orbital Systems couch in Esoteria. For a week or so SMASH had been in negotiations over the 74IL-0 constellation with residents Black Flag and Ratel. The basics were, SMASH wanted the constellation, and were happy to be friends and help Ratel put up their outpost elsewhere in Geminate. Ratel said "thank you but no thank you" and put up their outpost in TDE4-H. The hastily prepared SMASH invasion began. (At this stage both Ratel and SMASH were small alliances of a few hundred members each)
SMASH spent the first few days raiding and safe spotting before a tower was put up by new SMASH member corp VTIL. New to the alliance (and its timezone defficiencies) this tower was missing strontium or guns. In a 5 hour battleship siege, it was destroyed by Ratel and Black Flag alliance, while all VTIL members capable of deploying modules slept.
The next tower was put up a day later by ROME, and still stands to this day. Over the next few weeks, 5 more large towers were deployed, and all Ratel POS's in the surrounding systems, as well as the small and medium Ratel towers in TDE were removed.
Long time SMASH friends R0adkil,l who had been in the area and blue to Ratel, sided with SMASH in early August. Setting up in the O2O-2X system camping the route from empire.
SMASH continually put Ratel towers in TDE into reinforced, during US/AU timezones they camped the outpost, outnumbered and limited to skirmish activities during EU times. SMASH lost a total of 12 dreads over three occasions sieging Ratel Towers.
Ratel and allies (Black Flag, Forsaken Empire, Wreckless Abandon, Free Trade Coalition) made two attempts to put SMASH towers into reinforced. The first time they lost 3 dreadnoughts and a support fleet before withdrawing. The second they lost 56 support in 10 minutes to the tower before the node overloaded and crashed. The tower still had 80% shield, and SMASH dreads were about to perform a repeat performance with the Ratel allied dreads - the majority of losses inflicted being down to horrendous server nodes (possibly the worst in eve).
From this point it became obvious that any towers deployed by SMASH were going to be safe, and that taking down Ratel towers was a frustratingly difficult and expensive exercise. While Ratel had only lost a single dread to POS warfare they lost several carriers that were bumped off the station while performing the dock-undock maneuver. All total SMASH and r0adkill lost 12 dreads while RATEL lost 4 dreads and 3 carriers.
After several months sieging, SMASH jumped up thirty more towers (brining the SMASH System total to 36), and assembled their biggest fleet to date (jointly with R0adkill to lock down the system) with the towers all crowded within a single SMASH POS for deployment. A single Ratel scout remarked in local. 'That SMASH tower @ 7-16 is a mess'. Six or so hours later, SMASH, had 36 large fully equipped deathstars, claiming sovereignty. Most allied forces were still unaware of this achievement. Despite earlier evidence to the contrary, as well as being scouted out. Ratel would insist later that a buggy POS anchored mail cost them the system.
No further attempts were made by RATEL to fight for the system. Before SMASH gained sovereignty, E-R deployed a large POS in the system to begin their own campaign.
In the first week of October 2006, SMASH claimed sovereignty and the TDE4-H station. They hold it to this day.
A short time later R0adkill dropped their own Minmatar outpost in the K25 system, 5 jumps from TDE, consolidating this once barren area.
Three RATEL POS's was stolen by SMASH, one by E-R, and one destroyed in a 3 way tug of war. One RATEL dread was destroyed outside his own unarmed POS while trying to destroy a battleship for the insurance (which was also stolen by SMASH forces).
E-R's tower in TDE was removed, to be replaced by a second. This time defended by the full force of Pure and CDC as well as E-R. SMASH again fell victim to the weak node in Geminate, their gate camp being busted by a node crash when the E-R POS came out of reinforced.
E-R, Pure. CDC, D2, Morsus Mihi and Razor then moved on R0adkills outpost in K25, with 7 towers holding 100% of the moons being an easier than the 36 in TDE. At a heavy cost to their dread fleet they managed to remove 3 POS's from K25 before D2 removed their support to E-R. At this stage F-E and Cruel Intentions had joined SMASH/R0adkill's side and begun moving on IPS. E-R handed IPS to Storm Armada only for it to be taken by F-E / CI and sold to ISS.
The invasion repelled, this was the last time R0adkill and SMASH had their sovereignty threatened.
Some time later R0adkill deployed an outpost in the P-E system.
A blitzkrieg campaign on IPS, with ISS in residence, added the 8MG outpost to SMASH and the BWF outpost to R0adkill's growing collection.
While it is true that SMASH lost more capital ships to RATEL during the length of the siege compared to what RATEL lost to SMASH they were still able to put up the necessary number of towers in one night to claim sovereignty.
On several occasions GM's (Game Masters) had to be called into the area to assist. After the node crashes the GMs would have to move dreads away from the towers before the pilots could log back on. At one point all of the towers in the constellation were online but had no shields. A GM at that time declared all POS warfare to be off limits until the servers could reboot and reset the towers.
Storm Armada
This alliance took over the IPS constellation from Euphoria Unleashed in January 2007 when they left the area.
Storm Armada believed they could break the IPS curse, they were to be proved wrong before long.
With increased pressure from the remnants of FE and Cruel Intentions, they struggled to defend IPS against these veteran Pvpers of the region, and thus disbanded almsot immediately after CDC (who had owned the potential sanctuary in deeper 0.0; Vale of the Silent)
Storm Armada had an eye for the LS-JEP station which they viewed as a temporary retreat from BWF to safer more controlled space where they could make enough ISK to support their war in Geminate. However, Pure Alliance (Pure.) also wanted LS-JEP. This resulted in a stand off between the two former allies. Negotiations began to turn more aggressive and Storm Armada pulled back its request for the station after Pure. diplomats stated they would be set to -10 if they took the station.
With Pure. taking control of old CDC space. ESA was left with no fall back point and increased pressure from SMASHKILL, F-E, and Cruel Intentions made their continued 0.0 existence almost impossible.
Smashkill (March 2007 - )
Smash and r0adkill have worked and lived together in Geminate since the late summer of 2006. They took control of Geminate as a whole after removing those corporations and smaller alliances influenced by outside powerblocks from the North. This marks a new era of stability for Geminate. This condition was solidified after ISS was removed from IPS.
One reason for their success, is upon entering Geminate from the South, the leadership of RK wisely invited some of the local Geminate corporations into the fold. The battle hardened, expirienced locals were energized and strengthened by the new Alliance with its similiar pilots and military/industrial power. The new groups mixed well with the locals, and with their combined strength quickly set about bringing order to a region of chaos.
Around May 2007, Geminate again drew other outside groups to the area. INFOD (Infinitus Odium) moved from the Great Wildlands and began attacking the area. They tried dropping towers in BWF-ZZ and 8mg, but the powers in Geminate destroyed them. Rumor has it that someone that was wronged by SMASH asked INFOD to come attack the area.
Not long after INFOD moved in, COW (Cult of War) and RIOT (Anarchy Empire) joined INFOD to attack the area as well. In the mean time, RK and friends joined the Northern Coalition when the northern powers began to falter under the assault of the Alliance. For a short time, RK and friends fought with Terror in the System and Forsaken Empire up north beyond Geminate as well as assisting RAZOR, Morsus Mihi, PURE, and others with the northern engagements.
The latest group entering the fray in Geminate is Cruel Intentions, who decided to come back to the area after leaving for a period of time. They have joined forces with INFOD, COW, RIOT, and other alliances in regions surrounding Geminate. CI has fought along side OPUS, an alliance in the Drone regions.
Overall the engagements in Geminate have been intense. Both sides of the conflict have experienced heavy losses.
V.O.I.D
VOID was founded by remnants from the Forsaken Empire Alliance when they disbanded in the Spring of 2006. They made claims in Vale of the Silent as well as in Geminate. They were founded in April of 2006, but disbanded by June of 2006 due to internal and external pressure.
IPS Curse
It is discussed among the locals of The Forge and Geminate that the IPS constellation is cursed. Anyone who takes it over and tries to control it are doomed to failure within months. The Big Blue, Euphoria Released, Storm Armada, and to some extent, ISS have all fallen victim to this curse.
The source of the curse is centered in an incident at the Oijanen gate in BWF-ZZ after the Forsaken Empire control began to recede and prior to Big Blue's conquest of the constellation. The Amarrian Seer, Boctov Flame, was traveling to the area on a research mission dealing with a vision he had seen when he came under attack by a combination of local, vile, greedy, and blood thirsty pilots.
Just before his ship was destroyed, his flesh scorched and scattered among the stars, he pronounced an ancient Amarr curse on the area. The curse was recorded: "From innocent blood spilled, shall the blood of many be required. With fire, smoke, and blood will this place be cursed and none shall redeem it!"
The attackers laughed off the incident, but many of those same pirates paid their own blood as a price to hold on to IPS only to lose it.
The curse is sometimes referred to as the IPS curse or Boctov's curse.
Many skeptical pilots point to the location of the BWF station. Being one jump from empire leaves it is vulnerable to sudden attack. Further the number of moons - over forty makes holding enough POS's a logistical nightmare.
Recent events point to a period of stability however with the newly formed Smashkill confederation. Further ease on this troubled space is the New Eden War. Most neighboring alliances have refocused their efforts south toward the Alliance led by BoB.
Will the curse continue? Or has enough blood finally spilled to satisfy old Boctov?
