The Curatores Veritatis Alliance (CVA), is an alliance based in Providence and lower Domain. The alliance is loyal to the Amarr Empire, with their mission to provide security to the area of Domain that the Amarr Navy and CONCORD cannot, as well as extending the Empire into unlawful space. In years past, the alliance was known for its Golden Fleet.

The Alliance was originally founded by PIE Inc., which subsequently left the alliance to pursue interests in the remainder of the Amarr Empire.

The Inflatable House is an outpost owned and operated by Imperial Dreams.

History

CVA was one of the first alliances founded by pod pilots as a meeting point for Amarr corporations interested in the defence of the Holy Amarr Empire from the incursions of terrorists and pirates. Until mid-108 EST it was an Amarr only organisation.

The alliance primarily consisted of PIE Inc and Imperial Dreams. Initially, it was based in space belonging to the Empire, where its mission was to 'defend' the Amarrian Empire from pirates and terrorists. Early on its main enemy was Oracle - the leading pod pilot Minmatar terrorist organisation - with PIE Inc undertaking the bulk of combat operations at this stage. As time went on, additional Minmatar terrorist corporations such as Freelance Unlimited joined the fray. Over the years other minor corporations joined CVA, but it was not until 106 EST that any other significant corporations became involved.

In addition to its war with terrorist corporations CVA also took a strong anti-pirate stance - something which it maintains to this day - and it was heavily involved in anti-pirate efforts in and around Sarum Prime, which was formerly a low-security system one jump from Amarr Prime. These continued until the system was redesignated as high-security, thus halting the piracy.

In the early years PIE Inc provided the bulk of combat pilots and was considered the PvP arm of CVA, while Imperial Dreams focused more on industry. PIE Inc was heavily involved in numerous official wars versus terrorist organisations. However, it was Imperial Dreams that took the first step to finding a space in 0.0 for CVA when it entered the ill-fated CFS (Confederation of Free Stars) alliance (whilst maintaining its place within the CVA).

In late 106 EST (2004), CVA launched Operation Deliverance. This signified the first real steps of the alliance into low-sec and 0.0 politics.

Under the auspices of 'Operation Deliverance', CVA and its allies stepped up anti-pirate activities in the southern regions of the Amarr Empire bordering the Providence region and neighboring 0.0 systems. Historically these areas (including Kheram, Gemodi, Mamet, Misaba and R3-K7K) had been dominated by piratical corporations such as The Priory, Hooligans of War, Freeks, and The Short Bus Squad.

CVA, alongside allies and other anti-pirate forces, successfully forced the majority of these pirate corporations to either leave the region or severely restricted their piratical operations.

The justification for 'Operation Deliverance' as outlined by Hardin, PIE's CEO at the time, was to reassert Amarrian law, to bring an end to the piracy that had plagued these areas, and bring new economic development and prosperity to the benefit of the Amarrian exchequer. CVA also stated that it ultimately wanted the Amarrian Empire to 'reclaim' the 0.0 Providence systems under its protection, thereby expanding the Empire.

From late 106 EST to late 107 EST, CVA suceeded in bringing 'relative' peace to the Deliverance corridor although its authority was challenged on many occasions by piratical invasions, primarily raids by The Priory and a full scale invasion of Kheram by The Short Bus Squad.

During this period the alliance was joined by the Auctoritan Syndicate corporation, adding substantially to its combat capabilities. It also became one of the first new alliances to be officially CONCORD approved.

In roughly the same period, (late 107 EST) many of the Minmatar terrorist corporations at war with CVA corporations merged into the Ushra'Khan alliance. The Ushra'Khan immediately became the leading enemy of CVA.

October 107 EST (2005) saw a major invasion of CVA space by The Short Bus Squad and their allies in the newly formed TSDS (The Sudden Death Squad) alliance. This coincided with PIE Inc suffering severe internal turmoil. A number of its more senior members had left EVE or had moved on to other corps (i.e. Golan Trevize moving to the Mercenary Coalition).

This, combined with ever more demanding anti-pirate duties in the 'Deliverance', region stretched the combat capacity of the corporation.

In the end, the new PIE leadership decided to return to Empire to focus on the Minmatar threat, although many PIE members, including their former CEO Hardin, joined Imperial Dreams and stayed within CVA. Despite PIE Inc. leaving CVA, it still maintains strong contacts with the organisation and they still support each other as necessary.

By November 107 EST, the TSDS invasion had been completely devastated and relative peace returned to CVA areas of operations. However, the war with Ushra'Khan was maintained and indeed the Minmatar alliance moved into a neighbouring part of 0.0 in Providence, bringing a new dimension to the traditional Amarr versus Minmatar conflict.

Nevertheless, the region under CVA's jurdistiction was comparitively safe and because CVA does not operate an NBSI policy, many non-CVA coporations gradually migrated to the area as it offered one of the few relatively peaceful areas of 0.0. All who were willing to abide by the CVA's non-piracy rules were allowed.

Many of those who moved into and next to CVA space became friend and allies, most notably the Huzzah Federation and then later NOS, Huzzah's successor in Providence.

In the early part of 108 EST, CVA concentrated on securing and expanding its holdings on behalf of the Amarr Empire. Pirate attacks and regular probing raids from other alliances continued on an infrequent basis and were not a major issue. As a result, CVA undertook many offensive operations against the neighbouring Ushra'Khan alliance during this period, including the successful destruction of a terrorist training facility.

However, the most notable CVA accomplishment of early 108 EST was the construction of the first CVA outpost, the Inflatable House, in the X-R3 system.

Other matters of significance was a mini cold war with the Interstellar Starbase Syndicate, which intended to construct an outpost in a system claimed by CVA. After some sabre rattling by both sides (and a brief war), the issue was resolved through negotiation and the ISS station was placed elsewhere. In this period, CVA recruited another significant combat corporation, 'Blood and Honour' and shortly after that The Legion of Spoon ( TLOS ).

In mid-108 EST, CVA once again found itself at war with the TSDS alliance, which had moved back to Kheram. An official war was declared and the 'Second TSDS War' ended with the withdrawal of TSDS forces from Kheram.

A further period of relative calm followed before CVA became embroiled in an Amarr versus Amarr conflict between the Amarr loyalist Aegis Militia alliance and the Versium Family alliance. CVA (and PIE Inc.) intervened on the Aegis Militia side, much to the annoyance of the Versium Family backers.

By August 108 EST, Verisum Family had organised a loose coalition of past CVA enemies (TSDS, The Priory, and Blood Inquistion) and mercenaries (Omniscient Order & KIA Corp) to attack CVA. This ragtag coalition was mercilessly stamped out after a few brutal hour long conventional fleet battles in the Kheram to Mamet pipe line just as its predecessors.

For a period of time CVA was at peace with only their normal border dispute battles with Ushra'Khan. During things time CVA was able to set up another outpost in the system of ZT-LPU and expanded their claims to the borders of NOS. After their new outpost was placed the policies of CVA’s NRDS were challenged by several entities by hiring mercenaries such as SAS, CI and other factions, but either lost funding or interest in the area and CVA prevailed.

In 2007 CVA felt comfortable and with their assets in place devised a plan to continue reclaiming providence for the Empire. Their first attacked was to the system of 8P9-BM. After that the siege of QR-K85 was underway.

--The Siege of Ushra'Khan--

For one week the system of QR-K85 was under siege by CVA. To start, CVA placed a matching number towers to combat the claims of Ushra'Khan and at the same time placing Ushra'Khan control towers into reinforcement mode. Midway during the siege, Ushra'Khan called on their allies and successfully defended a control tower as it came out of reinforcement mode resulting in CVA and allies loosing capital ships as well as their support fleet. From this CVA redoubled their efforts and without any more noticeable resistance the system of QR-K85 came under the control of CVA.

After the fall of QR-K85 CVA came under the attacks of yet more mercenary forces to try and divert their attention away from Ushra'Khan last outpost system only 2 jumps away in 9UY4-H.

Two months after the fall of QR-K85 the 2nd siege of 9UY4-H was under way. (The first was Ushra'Khan vs. the Establishment) This siege took longer than the mere week then that of QR-K85. This time Ushra'Khan brought in more allies and was more prepared for this attack as they had enlisted the services of mercenaries such as Ev0ke as well as Chaos Incarnate. With the aid Chaos Incarnates Capital fleet in the late hours as well as Ev0ke well financed/organized sniper fleets and TITAN during the day, this required CVA to bring about a new strategy that much more suited CVA’s limitations.

For the first week CVA maintained a handful of POS in the system merely to have a foot hold in the system. Then in one blow CVA placed enough control towers in system to gain Sovereignty for a day. During this day CVA was able to storm the outpost and destroy all enemy clones installed there giving CVA an advantage of Ushra'Khan no longer being able to get into the system unmolested. After Ushra'Khan regained the outpost they lost the support of Ev0ke from either lack of interest (Ev0ke claimed to hate POS warfare) or lack of funding and within two weeks both sides were control tower spamming. Eventually Ushra'Khan was unable to match CVA’s control tower numbers as CVA started to destroy all hostile towers in system. With the fall of the outpost Ushra'Khan started losing corporations from their alliance and had to retreat near Assah.

As the majority of the threat started to diminish CVA cleaned out the remainder of Ushra'Khan control towers and started to face a new problem of securing their newly claimed space. This problem was the number of 0.0 entry ways that now lead to CVA claimed space had increased and CVA could no longer respond to threats in fast manner they were known for, but a solution for this was soon underway from the developers of the game, CCP.

Soon after the new patch, CVA quickly jumped at the opportunity and placed 2 more outposts in one day so secure constellation sovereignty and brought them up to a nice collection of 6 outposts. With the area becoming more developed this brought in what CVA hoped for, a neutral population to use the outposts. With them moved in other smaller forces to try and prey on the neutral population, but these hostiles noticed that it was either not worth it or had to base themselves a good distance from CVA arm of justice

--The siege of CVA--

CVA came under a sense of calm and was enjoying development of the area and was getting help from their allies as some smaller alliance moved in and started to place outposts. Soon after Paxton placed their outpost in QBL Triumvirate decided they wanted to stretch their legs as a military force in 0.0 space.

Triumvirate moved into the Assah area for the first week of their assault and were presented with extremely heavy losses. They soon after decided to move to CVA’s main logistical hub of Misaba. With the consistent strain of hostile in the area CVA deserted the Misaba area and doing so left Triumvirate open to attacking the 3 CVA POS in Misaba. A few days before a large patch Tri placed all 3 CVA POS into reinforced and were able to destroy 1-2 of them. After destroying the POS triumvirate was prepared for a large fleet battle with conventional ships, but since CVA was willing to let the small and med POS go if Triumvirate wanted a fight they would have to bring it to R3’s cyno jammed system 1 jump over.

Once the patch was deployed CCP had broken the game to a point that it was not honorable for any form of POS warfare in the game. CCP even stated that for a few days that any POS warfare would be a bannable offence. The patch had left cyno jammers online but not functioning properly as well as jump bridges could only be used by the corp that owned them as well as them working as a one way road. Triumvirate was mainly seen in semi nano gangs of HAC’s and command ships until a few days after the patch that CCP fixed the cyno jammers but not the jump bridges.

Triumvirate itchy for large scale combat formed a gang and began to siege Xr3. They started by securing and sealing off the outpost and gates with bubbles and support gangs. They then proceeded to take out the cyno jammer with little resistance as CCP had not fixed the jump bridges for CVA to bring in POS gunners. Triumvirate was able to place the all 4 CVA POS into reinforced with ease and only had to wait the 2 day timer that CCP brought about with adjusting the max limit of stront timers.

When the POS came out of reinforced CVA came to realize that CCP was out to get them (jokingly) The patch release a few day before brought more unforeseen bugs to POS. CVA had managed to get a large resistance force into the system and was able to combat the Triumvirate from taking down the POS’s, but the problem was that CVA was losing more ships to their own POS’s then to the hostile forces. The POS had been bugged so that they shoot friend of foe alike. Most times if in the POS shielding you would be safe, but sometimes it was not. This meant that only capital ships could withstand the pounding of the POS they were trying to repair and the repairing went on for many hours.

Not long after CVA was able to get Xr3 out of reinforced Triumvirate decided to have another go at Xr3. Again they were able to take down the cyno jammer but this time POS gunner were at the ready and CVA manage to make the assault on the cyno jammer more costly as the jump bridges were fixed, but in the end Triumvirate managed to place ¾ of the CVA POS into reinforcement . During the wait for Xr3 POS to come out of reinforced, triumvirate decided to make a move on the POS’s in R3 but got the nowhere as they lost a dread to one of the assaults.

The last battle for Triumvirate campaign vs. CVA was no push over. CVA formed some 5 hour before the POS were to come out of reinforcement and were ready. Triumvirate was reported to have well over 100 BS ready for large scale engagement, but scouted and saw CVA were ready and decided they should reship into more nano anti support ships. As Triumvirate jumped into Xr3 CVA pulled off the gate and allowed Triumvirate to clear the bubble and start to cycle some of the pilots back a few jumps to reship into the BS they were originally in. A tally of 100 Triumvirate BS were reported so the command was given to take a defensive position.

The attack came on the cyno jammer pos where CVA’s forces lay in wait. Carriers were outside POS with drones at the ready and the Triumvirate support fleet warped is on top of the carriers. Large amounts of lag ensued and their support started to die rather quickly from POS guns auto targeting and popping as well as carrier drones doing their thing. Not long after the lag started to clear ( 5 min into the fight ) the Triumvirate brought in their snipers and brought a scratching halt to the servers. Some minutes passed before any one reported being able to do anything and when everything was said and done CVA tacklers managed to bubble a large portion of Triumvirate BS and support while carrier drones a POS guns auto aggressed and neutralized a large portion of their fleet and Triumvirate rightly so retreated from the battle field.

By the time Triumvirate was able to regroup they still had a bit over 100 functional ships in Xr3 when CVA heard that IAC and Goons were on their way with a 90 man fleet. This is when the server pretty much started doing its own thing and when CVA heard that IAC/Goons were in X6 1 jump over, CVA noticed Triumvirate leaving the system and reported in X6. Expecting Triumvirate to come back to Xr3 CVA mounted a camp on the X6 gate, but when the massive amount of gate activation went underway, Triumvirate/IAC/Goon ships never loaded on grid and were able to warp away as well as come back in position for an assault. Soon after re realized what was going on IAC/Goon had managed to get position on top of Triumvirate position and a battle took place of unconceivable lag.

In the end Triumvirate was reported heading back to Misaba for new ships, but instead of heading for R3 gate in Misaba they were heading for the Mamet gate heading for deep empire. The news spread quickly the Triumvirate posted on Eve-o forums that with CVA + allies numbers and creating much lag that they campaign was to come to an end. For the next few days CVA was pleased to see Triumvirate leave themselves vulnerable as they slowly started moving ships out in small numbers for CVA to easily counter under sentries.

--The outpost forest—

Not long after Triumvirate left the area another one of CVA’s allies placed 2 outposts down near QBL. Directly after that a new CVA outpost was placed in R3, AY and S9x. Once the outpost in r3 was placed a considerable amount of neutral activity was seen to take root as CVA not had outposts in every system leading north for 3 jumps and outposts in 4/6 jumps heading south. Shortly after that -7- alliance also placed 2 outpost of their own in the northern section of Providence bringing the total number of outposts in Providence to a number of 14. This means that with Providence being one of the few regions without conquerable station placed by CCP, the region now has the most player constructed objects in the game

Structure

In relation to other alliances, CVA has traditonally been relatively small with approximately 470 members in Feb 109 EST. This is, in part, due to its strict recruitment policies, which until mid-108 EST prohibited mixed race corporations from joining the alliance. Although that restriction has now been relaxed, corporations wishing to join CVA have to demonstrate a long history of anti-piracy action in the Deliverance region as well as swear an oath of loyalty to the Amarr Empire. Since the "Amarr only" rule was discarded, the CVA has almost doubled in size and currently has approximately 950 members (October).

Internally, CVA operates on a consultative basis. However, Aralis, the CEO of Imperial Dreams, generally has the final say on decisions where clear agreement is not reached.

Economics

CVA is a relatively wealthy alliance and has a strong industrial capacity that belies its small size.

Military

CVA is one of the most battle hardened and combat tested groups in the galaxy. Its constant war with the Ushra'Khan and regular skirmishes with pirates and mercenaries means that it is well adapted to warfare and extremely resilient even in the face of apparently overwhelming odds - even its industrialists are capable fighters. A low turnover in pilots has left CVA with many wealthy, high skill pilots which allows the alliance to punch above its weight.
