Part one – Sponsored Corps in Detorid

By June 2005 The Five Alliance had successfully conquered space in the south east and offered various selected Corps access to the Detorid region, as sponsored Corps. The Five received revenue from refining taxes levied at their stations. Also, these Corps vigorously and successfully defended space against sporadic raiding parties sent at various times by, inter alia, the Red Alliance. Two of those Corps were 42 and Crisis Corp.

A war between [5] and Red Alliance, who were based in Cache and regions to the north of Detorid, was continuing. When, in the Autumn of 2005, RA pilots begin to appear in the Detorid area in numbers, C-CP and “42” commenced regular small fleet actions/raids into RA space. In September Red Alliance deployed a POS in DG-8VJ , the factory station system in northern Detorid, their fleet was dispersed by ATUK and the local sponsored Corp members and this POS was destroyed.

Then, in October, Red Alliance deployed more POS in the Detorid region. [5] announced they had decided that they did not wish to spend all their time taking down POSs, and decided to abandon all their claimed sovereign territories including Detorid, in favour of a nomadic existence. Crisis Corp, ATUCKO, Lunar Dawn and 42 (and also Shinra later ) gave consideration to continuing the campaign against RA but after some deliberation it was concluded that this was not feasible and the area was evacuated. At around this time, the Phoenix Alliance, NBSI and Forsaken Empire Alliances declared empire war on [5], who promptly made the declaration mutual. Veritas Immortalis declared war against all 3 and those wars were made mutual too.

Part two – Formation of Chimaera Pact

Two members of ATUKO proposed a new Alliance to be comprised of 42, FinFleet, German Cyberdome, Out of Exile and Crisis Corp. and ATUKO pilots. They stated that the plan would be for this new Alliance to station POSs at every moon in O-W, claim sovereignty there and take the station, and then do the same thing in DG. Intelligence was that RA maintained only a minimal presence in the area, and would possibly not want to go to the trouble to fight for the area. The aim was to create a fortress in Detorid and retain it as a permanent base. Each participating Corp would make a financial contribution, ATUKO supporting members would make the largest contribution, and station taxes would be implemented to provide for re-payment. It was stated that if necessary [5] would send a Dreadnaught fleet to remove RA stations.

A new Alliance named Chimaera Pact was formed on 3rd November by Midguard Logistics. Crisis Corp joined it along with 42 and Fin Fleet and German Cyberdome and Out of Exile. It had been decided that diplomatic contact would be made with RA at an early stage and because of ATUKOs past bad relations with RA, they/their pilots should not join the alliance but should instead form a new corp., who would join.

Part 3 – War with Red Alliance and the First invasion of Detorid

A message was sent to Red Alliance stating that Chimaera Pact had been formed with the aim of owning the Detorid stations and occupying what was an under-populated area and enquiring whether RA could accommodate this intent. They replied that they would never relinquish any stations.

There is some dispute as to precisely when this message was sent, Chimaera Pact claim it was sent on 3rd November. To all intents and purposes however the effect was as if it had been sent contemporaneously with instigation on Thursday 4th November of stage one of the Chimaera Pacts’ plan to invade and conquer Detorid. A fleet of some 40 ships formed at Sendaya and escorted freighters containing POS modules and fuel and supplies to PO4F-3. The following day haulers and pilots travelled to O-W and put up 10 POS there. RA declared empire war on the new alliance and moved a large number (at least 40) of ships into OW and DG and started to destroy the POS on Friday 5th November and Saturday the 6th. They also deployed some pilots to patrol the route from Utopia into Detorid. Some new POS were put up, and a squad of Chimaera Pact fighters carried out harassing attacks on RA pilots in OW.

On Friday 5th November Out of Exile left the Pact. On Sunday 6th it was reported that German Cyberdome had left the Alliance. Concerns started to be voiced that the ATUKO members had not yet joined the alliance, or been seen in the area of operations.

Red Alliance pilots moved into the O-W area as soon as they were alerted that POSs had been established there, and started to attack Chimaera Pact POSs there, and to station POSs of their own. Pact pilots in turn attacked them. The Pact attained Sovereignty of OW for one day on 13th November 2005 through deployment of a greater number of POS, but this was lost when RA put up more POS of their own and destroyed Chimaera Pact stations. Red Alliance declared Empire War on the Pact alliance corporations.

On 11th November 2005 a statement of Chimaera Pacts intent was posted on the Eve forums.

On 12th November Midguard Industries surrendered their Empire war with RA. The Pact declared war on Free Space Alliance, who were identified as sponsored by RA and operating in northern Detorid out of the two RA stations there.

During the first 3 weeks of November the Pact continued to ship supplies to PO4F-3, but engagements fell off in Detorid as pilots faught RA in Empire. It became evident when two weeks had passed after the formation of the Chimaera Pact Alliance that the expected entry into the Theatre of operations of a number of ATUKO pilots was not going to transpire. Enquiry of contacts there confirmed that the support they said they had expected was not going to materialise. Midguard left the alliance. Crisis Corp. took over as executor Corporation.

The initial attempt to take OW having been repelled, the plan to fight a “POS war” in that system was abandoned in favour of a period of retrenchment during which new plans could be devised and logistics improved; an Alliance Council was formed but struggled to formulate a coherent strategy. EXbollocks Corps and Aurora Empire Corps joined the Pact and it was decided that a large POS would be established as a forward base of operations, in O34-MN, and supplied by runs from PO4-F3. Fin-Fleet ran convoys to do this. It was reported that RA had made arrangements with Virrii to blockade the route to PO4-F3. The Pact decided that their primary strategy now would be to engage RA in Detorid with a view to denying them use of that area, in the hope that Red Alliance would eventually abandon Detorid.

Part Four – Continued attrition in north Detorid

In December 2005 the Chimaera Pact Council of War issued policy orders calculated to continue pressure on RA and on the inhabitants of Detorid. RA discontinued their war declaration. The war declaration against FSA was allowed to lapse to enable Pact forces to be concentrated in Detorid. There was some speculation that Shinra and M-Corp were negotiating with RA to move into Detorid, on enquiry of them they informed Pact diplomats that RA had told them Free Space Alliance had an agreement to pay RA 2 billion isk a week to maintain sovereignty in Detorid, which would explain why RA were doing so but not sending ships to engage Chimaera in the area, Shinra and M-Corp advised the Pact that RA had told them that FSA could not afford to pay for much longer, and asked those 2 Corps (Shinra and M-Corp) if they wished to take on the “Detorid problem”. Later, a post appeared in the EvE forums concerning a discussion between those two Corps and RA about the possibility of their joining RA.- to which Copia War Rages Corp of RA had reacted vehemently, stating that they would not agree unless the new Corps set [5] to hostile standings, and attacked Chimaera Pact. On 18th December SRNA and M.Corp formed a new Alliance which they named Lotka Volterra, moved on Insmother, and set CHIMPs to +5 standings and engaged in hostilities with RA. Pact fleets had by this time largely succeeded in making O-W and D-G unusable to enemy ships by attacking on sight, although the number of ships destroyed was small. Only a few FSA and “Reddish Bear” Corp ships were to be found in Detorid. On occasion Virii disrupted Pact supply runs by blockading Doril and the route down, thought have been paid to do so by RA. In the second week of December the Pact destroyed a small RA POS in OW, it was however replaced with a large POS overnight. With the Red Moon Rising patch and the changes it would make to sovereignty issues imminent, the Pact decided to bring all large POS equipment and fuel to the PO4 staging post, ready to be brought to Detorid and deployed in a second attempt to take OW, as soon as RMR was implemented. Galactic Empire Corp joined the Pact. ExBollocks however dissolved, with several of their members joining M-Corp.

Further equipment and supplies were brought to POW, and following implementation of the RMR patch, on 19th December a Pact convoy moved all POS equipment and quantities of fuel from PO4 to 03.

Rover Vittesse was interviewed in his capacity of Head of the Alliance Council and at the beginning of the month an item had appeared in EVE-News:

"A Pact in Red Blood reported by: Yelena Haurvatha | 2005.12.04 19:16:40

After the withdrawal of The Five from the south-eastern regions, a rapid expansion of the Red Alliance was witnessed as it both grew in numbers and territory. The new landlords were quickly recognised by many of the non-affiliated residents, and a peaceful transition was possible in most regions. Some, however, chose to break free and claim independence as well as territory, with varied degrees of success.

While the Miners With Attitude alliance managed to lay claim to the region of Tenerifis, others were not so successful. The locals of Detorid who were unprepared and outnumbered decided to retreat to the safety of Empire space and reorganise there. They formed the Chimeara Pact, collecting the locals from Detorid and counting a few veteran corporations such as FinFleet and Crisis Corp. Their intentions and objectives were made public early last month, preceded by an attempt to reclaim the 0-W778 solar system as their own. Unfortunately for them, the coup did not last very long, and Red Alliance forces managed to recapture the station within a few days. Since then, two open wars have surfaced between Chimeara Pact, Red Alliance and its ally, the Free Space Alliance, spanning from the far reaches of the 0.0 regions to Concord-protected space.

I recently had the chance to interview leaders from Red Alliance and Chimeara Pact concerning their objectives, and how this conflict affected them. Confirming the relative peace in which the territories were reclaimed, Hassis, spokesperson for the Red Alliance affirmed that ‘only Chimaera Pact came to the Detorid region in an attempt to raise pressure.’ Later asserting that ‘there were some attempts to attack Wicked Creek and Detorid regions, but they were successfully reflected’ with help from residents of those regions. When asked about their projects for the regions under their tutelage, it was pointed out that mutual profit was the keyword ; ‘it will be home for those who want to make profit from living in 0.0 and help us fighting against our enemies’. Yet, these objectives are not very different from those accredited to the Chimaera Pact by Rover Vitesse, CEO of Crisis Corp, who stated that all they wanted was ‘to live in Detorid amongst friends and friendly people.’ According to him, the war erupted because ‘the Red Alliance seemed to hold a vendetta against the guys who lived here under The Five's ownership.’

Both opponents seem to be pleased with how events are unfolding, with Mr. Vitesse stating that ‘Chimaera Pact are more than happy with the way the war is going.’ Hassis was just as confident, affirming that the ‘threat level of this “invasion” is very low,’ and further embracing a larger scope declaring that ‘the Red Alliance can face any threat,’ and that they would adapt to any kind of warfare encountered. It would seem that some equilibrium has been found in this conflict, with neither side gaining clear advantage over the other, time being the final judge.

The neighbouring alliances, for their part, do not appear interested in taking an active role on either side of the conflict. Veritas Immortalis has only been seen engaging in small skirmishes against the Red Alliance, while Ascendant Frontier has its hands full fending off the northern invasion. "

On 29th December the order was given to implement operation “Russian Tear” – the long awaited and planned second invasion of Detorid system OW – on Friday 6th January. All available pilots convened to transport 3 POS from 03 and to station them in O-W778, which would then be classified as a “no-go” zone to non-alliance personnel and patrolled accordingly. Individual Corps were given responsibility to guard the gates to prevent entry to O-W778 and to guard the station in OW.

Part Five – The second Invasion of Detorid

As planned, Operation Russian Tear commenced at 18.00 hours on Friday 6th January. Crisis Corp had already moved their equipment and POS to 0-3 and therefore proceeded immediately to MD and then to OW where they monitored activity, sent a scout into DG, and camped the DG-OW gate in OW whilst the other Corps in the Alliance brought the rest of their equipment from PO4. and took up their allotted stations in the system. 3 POS were duly anchored in OW and equipped from 03. No resistance from RA was encountered. As the operation progressed reports began to be received that –V- were engaged in an action against RA 8 jumps away in 1V-LI2, where they were in the course of capturing the station. Talks between the –V- and CHIMP leadership resulted in an agreement that the Pact, having completed phase 1 of the operation and failing to have found any RA forces in the area, would send a fleet to assist –V- who said they would in future be willing to return the favour by assisting the Pact if need be. 3 detachments, from each of Crisis Corp, Galactic Empire and FinFleet traveled to 1V. Upon arrival they were advised that –V- had almost taken down the stations defences and were bringing a freighter into the system with their equipment and then proposed to take down an enemy POS. They requested that the Pact fleet assist by guarding the freighters’ route and then the system, whilst they carried out their objectives. The fleet therefore travelled to XV-MWG where scouts located a RA fleet. The Pact forces shadowed that fleet and then moved back to 1V to guard the gate into that system. When the RA fleet then moved away, the Pact split its forces by sending the FinFleet detachment after the RA on a seek and destroy mission, whilst the other detachments remained in 1V in case the Red Alliance fleet doubled back.

At 03.00 hours the fleet returned to OW and the next day the Pact continued to patrol in OW to prevent any RA activity in that area against the POS.

The Pact leadership issued a De-Briefing to its members:

The 2nd invasion of Detorid has so far greatly exceeded our first attempt over a month ago, with all towers currently in place, and RA fleets running.

With spacial superiority achieved in Detorid, we moved our fleets up the pipe to help -V- alliance take and hold part of Scalding Pass. This greatly impressed -V- and we are now more than welcome to dock at the 1v- station. This was a huge bonus, that we couldn’t have planned for and really is the cherry on today’s cake!

As the day progresses, RA space is being carved up by ourselves, -LV-, -V-, SMASH and KOS.

The fight goes on, but new information on the current rules of Sovereignty may develop into CHIMP being in the position to capture 0-W778 as early as Downtime today (07-01-06). -V- were successful of claiming Sovereignty of two RA systems within 24 hours, as it appears the "5-day" sovereignty rule has not been put into place.

If this turns out to be the case, we need every available pilot online in 0-W778 immediately after Downtime and we will claim our first system in Detorid...

Well done so far and good luck now”.

Chimaera continued to maintain a large presence in 0-W over the next days. On 8th January a number of Tribal Souls pilots came into the system looking for RA targets, and were ushered though by the Pact without incident and with good wishes. Later that day RA did however station more POS and prevented CHIMP from claiming Sovereignty. The next day the Pact stationed more POS in 0-W and again claimed Sovereignty. On 9th January a large RA fleet entered 0-W, outnumbering the Pact fleet, but did not engage in any activity. However, Veritas Immortalis and Lotka Volterra had learned of the RA incursion and sent ships to assist, demonstrating solidarity between those allied forces, which boosted Pact morale. Sovereignty was attained by the Pact on 10th January 2006 and the station was duly taken on that day.

On 11th/12th Chimaera Pact stationed a POS in DG-8VJ and took the station in that system as well. Formal discussions took place between Lotka Volterra, Veritas Immortalis and Chimaera Pact concerning ownership of Detorid, Wicked Creek and Scalding Pass, with consultation also with Knights of the Southern Cross and SMASH Alliances, who proclaimed they were also interested in seeking to claim space from Red Alliance. The Pact were also contacted by representatives of Corporations situate in Immensea who planned to overthrow Red Alliance, enquiring whether the Pact would assist them.

Part six- consolidation and Coalition

Lotka Volterra and Veritas Immortalis had continued to fight against RA. As time went by these alliances and Chimaera Pact conducted more operations together and came to be referred to as “The coalition” – a coalition of forces having a common interest arrayed against Red Alliance. On 10th February 2006 in a combined operation, fleets from Chimaera Pact, Lotka Volterra and Veritas Immortalis, aided by some ships from Corporations being considered for Alliance membership took the fight to the Red Alliance forces in their home Region of Cache and locked down the system whilst ships from ally Alliances anchored POS in strategic systems there. Massive attacks on Cache and Wicked Creek followed, resulting in allied forces from SMASH Alliance taking Cache from RA, and Wicked Creek being totally claimed by KOS. In Immensea, RA allies Southern Border Alliance were instructed by Alliance forces to move out of the area asap, or face eviction by a LV and CHIMP task force. As at 13th February, Innsmother was the only region in which RA still held Sovereignty

At the start of the month of March 2006 CHIMP and allied detachments commenced operations to conquer Immensea region, occupied by Southern Border Alliance forces, comprised of former RA sponsored Corporations and placed in possession of the stations there by RA on their withdrawal. Wasteland Industries had joined CHIMP with a specific agenda to operate in Immensea. They placed multiple POSs in the region, constantly harassed by SBA forces. Sovereignty was contested in one of the station systems so an attack was launched to attain it. At this point first one of the main SBA Corporations left and then in a ripple effect their whole military effort just started to disintegrate. On 5th March Sovereignty in all Immensea station systems passed to CHIMP and the following day the other two stations in the Region fell to CHIMP forces and remaining SBA forces were mopped up. The campaign from invasion to wholesale eviction of SBA from the region took 5 days to accomplish.

CHIMP took on a handful of sponsor Corps, Occasus Republic and Catalyst Reaction (HASTE) Corps joined the Chimp Alliances. CHIMP continued to aid neighbouring allied forces. In the middle of the month a combined allied fleet approaching 300 in number stormed JLO-Z3 in Scalding Pass and took the station about a week later. At the end of the month at 9.00 on a Saturday morning a group of CHIMP haulers assembled at O-W, flew the half dozen or so jumps to C-J6MT in Insmother and anchored 15 POSs in C-J6MT. Operations continued over the weekend to further equip and fuel those POSs. CHIMP attained Sovereignty in the system, and claimed the station.

In April/May Rover Vitesse was replaced as CHIMP chief executive by Klezz, following a re-organisation of Pact command structure. The coalition invaded Cache again and attained Sovereignty in two station-systems, these were however recovered by Red Alliance fairly quickly. RA allies Ghosts of Retribution Alliance left Cache and were declared hostile by RA, and later assisted Coalition forces against RA. Peace talks between the coalition and RA aborted; the coalition offered to permit RA to retain control of Cache if they gave up claims on the other south east regions controlled by the coalition, RA refused that offer.

Then 42 left Chimp, a blow keenly felt by the Pact. OCC also left Chimp, their integration into the Pact having been unsuccessful.

The coalition launched a further invasion of Cache and attained sovereignty of all stations in the region, leaving RA with no conquerable station in 0.0. They were aided by Ghosts of Retribution Alliance, to whom co-control of Cache systems was allotted by the coalition. RA continued to shed members, notably CWRA left their alliance. It appeared that they were about to fall.

Then on 23rd May 2006 Red Alliance struck back, they anchored 18 POS in C-J6MT and moved a fleet of around 40 ships into the system. It was believed they used a Carrier to jump the Towers and fuel into the system. On 24th May the Pact moved some 30 ships into that system, and the following day a further 100 coalition ships moved into the system, to engage RA and remove their POSs. Although Coalition forces continued to blockade the system to the end of the month, playing a game of cat and mouse with the smaller RA fleet in the system, having attained Sovereignty by putting up more POSs that the Pact in C-J6MT RA did eventually capture the station.

Part Seven - the Founding Corps leave CHIMP

In June Lotka Volterra had suggested to representatives of Crisis Corp and FinFleet that they might consider joining Lotka Volterra. Their initial response was to take the line that the invitation ought to be extended to all CHIMP Corporations. In the event discussions resulted in the position whereby CHIMP members Happy Tree Friends (who had split from Galactic Empire some time before), would merge completely with FINFL, and that Crisis Corp and Finfleet would indeed be leaving Chimeara Pact, staying in Detorid, and joining Lotka Volterra. Of the other CHIMP Corps., some WIN pilots, were also moving across to FINFL. Galactic Empire were undecided, but in the event eventually decided to join LV as well.

Catalyst Reaction (HASTE) declined the offer presented to them by C-CP and FINFL on behalf of LV. The terms offered did not appeal to HASTE, and HASTE leadership also averred their loyalty to other standing alliance members of CHIMP who had not been offered membership of LV. Frictions led to one heated incident when Rover Vitesse was personally insulted by the HASTE COO MoeStyles and accused of “Backstabbing”. Rover Vitesse made a statement: “The major reason we fought so long and hard for C-J6MT was so HASTE could deploy an outpost in the constellation. They have not been receptive to either myself, Klezz’ nor Xaarists ideas on where we should deploy these Outposts. They have had five ready to go for almost six weeks now, but because of their inflexibility, we as an Alliance council have refused to deploy pilots to defend the deployments. HASTE would not entertain joining LV, as it was explained to them they would have to put the outposts where the Alliance wanted them, not where they chose to. Cereal Killers were not invited to join as a Corp but an invitation was made for all or any of their pilots who so wished (to fly under the LV banner), to join Crisis Corp.” 42 had by this time largely disbanded with their pilots joining Shinra, a LV Corp.

MoeStyles has subsequently issued a response to that statemenmt, quoted here verbatim: "Rover Vitesse also failed to mention in his statement that Klezz had requested the Haste CEO Galde scout systems which would be vital to a Outpost deployment. Two different times Haste, prior to the discussion of C-CP and FINFL leaving, had prepared and was ready for deployment. Both times that Haste had made ready to deploy the outpost coalition forces changed up plans completely and Haste was left once again holding the Outpost deployment off until a later date. What is not so well known is that LV demanded that any and all outposts were to become property of the alliance. LV had originally extended an inviation to Haste which was promptly turned down under the terms that LV had dictated to Haste. Outpost assets in Haste hands were not the property of the corporation but that of the members that either owned privately outpost construction platforms or invested into the one built by Haste. It was also later found out that the total sum of outpost platforms was a likely fabrication. Only two for sure were known to exist at the time. Their CEO had been told by incoming members that they had outpost platforms of upwards of four extra platforms at one time which their CEO boasted about to various alliance council members. One of the two known outposts was sold to a corp that joined CHIMP after the majority of the former CHIMP corps had left to join LV. LV accused HASTE of being greedy and then in a display on the Eve Forums made a statement denying the fact that Haste was offered a position in LV as well outright made poor remarks towards CHIMP as a whole to which enemies of LV even made remarks concerning the lack of respect for an allied alliance."

At the end of the month Finfleet and Crisis Corp and Galactic Empire duly left Chimp and joined LV alliance, leaving Catalyst Reaction and Wasteland Industries and Cereal Killers, as the main CHIMP Corps. By agreement the E8-YS9 refinery station in Immensea was made over to CHIMP whose remaining pilots relocated there, and the two Detorid stations and the POS equipment already in use to secure these two systems was made over to the three Corps leaving for LV. All alliance funds, assets, and everything related to Chimaera pact stayed within Chimaera Pact.

A number of Corporations then joined CHIMP, staying for a longer or shorter period of time. After a month, Catalyst Reaction left CHIMP and Cereal Killerz took over as the Alliance executor and leaders.
