Axiom Empire [AXE] is a 1300-man PvP-oriented alliance residing in Fade region as of November 2008, but with history in the regions of Impass in 2006 and Fountain during 2007. AXE is also a member of the Greater BoB Community (GBC).

History

Formation & ASCN partnership

Officially formed in March 2006, AXE was born out of a perceived need by some of the Impass-based Ascendant Frontier [ASCN] corporations for a greater degree of independence. At the time, much of ASCN's internal forum discussion was centered on Feythabolis region; militarily the alliance was on the rebound following an attempted invasion of the region by the combined forces of G, Imperial Republic of the North [IRON] and the Razor Alliance [-RZR-], and practically all planned outpost development was focused on Feythabolis also. ASCN was growing again, and so it was decided that another alliance was needed in order to help those in Impass retain their identity, an opportunity for them to forge a path of their own before they would be swept along another.

For most ground-level pilots, the change meant very little. AXE and ASCN enjoyed mutual +10 standings for as long as the two were galactic neighbours, and intel channels including TeamSpeak continued to be shared by both alliances. At the corp level, some swapped regions in order to be closer to their alliance of choice. At the top, Steel Rat would take control of AXE whilst CYVOK remained at the head of ASCN. Previously, they had shared power together in ASCN.

The founding member corporations - all formerly of ASCN - were:

Business as usual

For the first few weeks, AXE pilots continued to accompany ASCN on retaliatory raids into the northern regions, culminating in the Siege of EC-P8R in April 2006. This massive undertaking saw several alliances - including AXE and ASCN - continually barricading entry into the Pureblind chokepoint system of EC-P8R for several days while a Band of Brothers [BOB]-led fleet of capital ships routinely destroyed or dismantled every single POS (Player Owned Structure) in the system, taking control of the Gallente outpost (formerly held by TRUST) as a result. It was this single event that triggered the fracturing of IRON and the complete dissolution of G, and so with its old enemies finally defeated, AXE pilots returned home to enjoy a period of relative peace.

Over the course of the following few months AXE picked up a few more member corporations, including Generals Of Destruction Syndicate [GODS], Mom 'n' Pop Ammo Shoppe [SHOP] and United Society Starfleet [US F]. Eye Of God led outpost deployment efforts in Impass with a refinery in 4-MPSJ, factory in 442-CS and laboratory in 9ZFH-Z adding to the pre-existing conquerable factory station in Z-N9IP, creating possibly the first constellation in Eve to become eligible for Constellation Sovereignty status with four stations instead of just three.

Conflicts of note at this time included an Empire war declaration on Goonswarm [OHGOD] in support of Band of Brothers following the controversial Smoske incident. BoB focused on OHGOD's lower Syndicate home, while AXE was there to catch pilots fleeing into the surrounding Gallente Empire regions in what was probably - from an efficiency perspective - the most successful PvP campaign for AXE to date.

Meanwhile further south, AXE was rewarded for its efforts alongside ASCN in displacing Tribal Souls [TS] from Paragon Soul, with ownership of the refinery outpost in LX5K-W. AXE also briefly lent numbers to the cause of the Interstellar Alcohol Conglomerate [IAC] up in central Catch, who were under siege from the Mercenary Coalition [MC] and Firmus Ixion [FIX] around this time.

E3 conflict

Around the middle of 2006 thoughts turned to a possible expansion of AXE territory into lower Catch. Impass as a region was not rich by design, but with the arrival of the Cold War patch, a gate connecting N-CREL in Impass with the former dead-end Catch system of E3-SDZ was opened. It was soon discovered that E3- was home to a potentially lucrative static deadspace Sansha complex, DED-rated 10/10. However, members of Russian corporation Rage and Terror [RAT.] had already taken up nightly residence in the system, farming the complex almost daily before and after downtime. The decision was made to attempt to wrest control of E3- from RAT, a decision that would soon prove costly for both AXE and ASCN.

Pressure began to mount as AXE continued to disrupt RAT's farming operations. Numbers on both sides began to grow; AXE sought assistance from ASCN, while The Collective [COL] - another corporation with interests in lower Catch, took up arms alongside RAT.

Tensions finally boiled over on one fateful weekend when, in an effort to flush RAT out of E3, AXE and ASCN mounted large bubblecamps either side of the system, AXE in N-CREL with ASCN deployed in AOK-WQ on the other side. For hours the forces of RAT and COL along with hired hands 0utbreak [TOXIN] were boxed in until roughly 0300, when numbers in E3 suddenly spiked; RAT were pulling an "alarm clock" operation. With only seconds of warning, enemy forces piled into N-CREL and quickly routed the idle AXE fleet, including two AXE carriers. ASCN rushed to assist but were hampered by their own bubbles, and by the time they arrived in N-CREL, RAT/COL were largely clear of the AXE bubbles and free to destroy much of the ASCN fleet - now themselves caught in AXE's bubbles - only minutes after the slaughter of the AXE fleet.

Footage of this fight was captured and released by RAT CEO Evil Thug in a popular video simply titled E3 conflict.

The fall of Impass

The E3 conflict effectively set the tone for events that would unfold later in the year. RAT and COL would join with former Stain Empire [SE] corporation Xenobytes [XB] in forming the alliance Against all Authorities [-A-], also casually referred to by many as AAA. RAT pilots began logging off in the Angel 10/10 complex system of Z-N9IP and were now disrupting AXE's own complex-running efforts.

Following a failed attempt by AXE and others to save Huzzah Federation territory from falling into AAA hands, many Huzzah refugees merged into the single corp No Quarter [NOQ] and joined AXE. However once incorporated, issues began to arise between NOQ and the rest of the alliance. AXE became frustrated at NOQ's reluctance to adapt from Ventrilo to AXE's preferred TeamSpeak for voice communications, while NOQ were dismayed at AXE appearing to largely ignore their warnings of further AAA login traps once POS warfare began taking place in Impass station systems (in one such incident, AXE lost 9 dreadnoughts trying to finish a AAA POS). NOQ finally departed AXE and Impass for Syndicate region in November.

Meanwhile, AXE cobbled together forces enough to thwart AAA's use of the complex for at least three straight days, and many in alliance chat at that time believe it was this defiant stand which instigated the arrival of AAA capital ships within Impass. Still, what seemed to begin as merely a complex running force, strategically 'contained' within the dead-end complex system, grew into a major force of attrition throughout the region, focusing heavily on outpost systems such as 442-CS, 9ZFH-Z, TWJ-AW, and, perhaps most notably, 68FT-6 which stood as the nexus of travel throughout Impass. At one point, a hostile dreadnought stood as bait in an 68FT-6 asteroid belt in what led to an infuriating loss of assets for AXE (thanks in large part to a node crash). Later still, AXE unsuccessfully defended a POS in the 9ZFH-Z system versus a large AAA capital fleet, coming within a hair of destroying a single Revelation class dreadnought. For many, this event was considered the camel's straw, after which the tide turned very decisively against AXE.

Morale was also further eroded within the alliance when it became clear that EOG's earlier outpost deployments had come at the cost of the alliance's plans to instead produce several capital ships to help defend the area.

System sovereignty was finally threatened as AAA mounted a sudden full-scale invasion of Impass immediately before Christmas, ensuring that local resistance would be at its weakest yet. A temporary truce was negotiated on Christmas Eve, giving AAA full control of the region and allowing AXE pilots to remove themselves from the region by the 2007 New Year.

Standings reset

In timing with the withdrawal from Impass, Steel Rat announced a full standings reset on AXE's behalf, determined to cut ties with those who had been blue but had failed to assist the alliance when needed most. AXE lost several corporations during this restructuring phase; EOG, SOLST and GODS found new beginnings with other alliances, while SHOP were unhappy about AXE's new NBSI policy in Providence region. For a time, only DDC, USF and RISES remained with the alliance.

Despite a now-clean political slate, two alliances saw fit to declare Empire war on AXE in January 2007. One was the Privateer Alliance, while the other was Goonswarm, presumably in retaliation for AXE's earlier war with them. This alone was enough to keep AXE pilots entertained for several weeks while alliance leadership considered its options.

Following a brief flirtation with the idea of life in the drone regions, it was decided around March 2007 to take up BoB's offer of friendship and residency in Fountain. The decision drew scorn from several of BoB's enemies, including many who were part of the now-defunct ASCN and therefore former friends of AXE. However, BoB had also been former friends of AXE, and the two alliances shared mutual enemies in Goonswarm and AAA, so it was as politically compatible a move as any, and AXE rank and file were happy to follow the order.

GBC adventures

Now a part of the so-called Greater BoB Community (GBC), AXE has played its part in the largest scale war Eve has seen to date, between the GBC and the Northern and Southern Coalitions, as well as seeing several more member corps come and go along the way. AXE supported MC-led forces in a very successful campaign against the Northern Coalition during the middle of 2007 which led to the fraction and dissolution of the Dusk and Dawn [D2] alliance, as well as removing Razor (albeit temporarily) from their space.

Later in the year, AXE followed MC to the lower Querious / western Catch arena to help FIX repel IAC and AAA, before withdrawing back to Fountain in October to help defend the northern extents of GBC territory. In January 2008 AXE relocated once more, this time to central Delve to assist the GBC in what many believe to be its final stand against the array of hostile corps and alliances now sieging the area.
